As of November 22, 2011, all bets have been cancelled. We really don't know what happened, but Feldman dropped this:

I heard that Florida Billy Napier has a real interest, and I know that Virginia Tech is also interested. Interesting news on the carousel now: https://t.co/lkU572ig4V-Bruce Feldman (@BruceFeldmanCFB) November 23, 2021

If people at the national level are reporting it, it's almost there. No need to guess and try to resolve vague insider posts. We have contacted Napier, and so has Florida. It's up to him now.

No need to guess and try to resolve vague insider posts.

It’s night outside, but Lotte inside

It is said that Napier said that VT is the second largest job in ACC...FLA must be 5th or 6th or higher in the SEC. Work decision or money decision?

Florida may be the worst second or third best job in the conference.

Layer really. Level 1 Bama Level 2 uf, uga, lsu. The second layer boils down to the relationship with area, comfort and nuance. I know that uga does not have any rings in 40 years, but it is easy to own. There is never rubbish.

"My advice to you... is to start drinking a lot." —John Brutaski

LSU is the best job of the US Securities and Exchange Commission, maybe the whole country is in Ohio State University

It’s night outside, but Lotte inside

All those national champions, even removing the "fake" ones is another matter.

"My advice to you... is to start drinking a lot." —John Brutaski

This comes from recruiters. Basically, Louisiana is one of the most talented states in the country, and almost everyone wants to go to Louisiana State University. You can recruit at the top 5 levels and hardly leave the state. Working with a strong resource and fan base, they have the highest ceiling in the country. If Saban stays there, they will become what Bama is now. Find the right person, they may be that person in the future.

It’s night outside, but Lotte inside

Based on BenW’s comment-LSU and OSU are the only two (1) they have a large number of talents in their country/region, and (2) there is no P5 competitor in another state (which is good) when Cincy moves to Change at B12).

You can also read how Huey Long (aka The KingFish) did his best to ensure that LSU is the only football power in the state (Godfrey/SZD made fun of this offseason episode-I'm so excited for this). The political structure of Louisiana does everything possible to support Louisiana State University as a true football powerhouse in the state and prevent other FBS schools from becoming secondary professional schools. You will never see one of the G5 schools in Louisiana as progressing as Cinsey did in Ohio, because politicians will prevent this from happening.

I have 100 years of results to say Bama.

"My advice to you... is to start drinking a lot." —John Brutaski

LSU's argument is based entirely on potential. Many people believe that if Saban stayed at LSU instead of going to Bama, he might be more dominant.

However, I think OSU is a better plan than Bama. Since 1960, they have had 2 (!) losing seasons: 1988 and 2011. In more than 60 years, they have 16 seasons with a record of less than 0.750. There is almost never a low season. Even Bama has gone through a very terrible stage. It's easier to mess up in Alabama than at Oregon State University.

I would agree with tOSU more than lsu, because of the money, just for easier meetings, but support Bama to leave behind the coach and enter their plan... Wait... It just means more .

"My advice to you... is to start drinking a lot." —John Brutaski

I will list ALA, GA, LSU and aTm before UF.

TAMU is definitely not better than UF. You will always be in the shade of burnt orange, and now they come to the SEC. The expectation of the national championship is not even talked about. This is a great job, but UF is definitely better.

It’s night outside, but Lotte inside

The shadow is fading fast. When they enter the US Securities and Exchange Commission, they will yell UT's ass.

"I'm drunk and can't taste this chicken"-Colonel Sanders through Ricky Bobby

TAMU certainly has bigger pockets. They can throw money at coaches that Florida certainly won't.

Yes, I think TAMU is a top 10 job, but I put UF on it

It’s night outside, but Lotte inside

We were taken aback. Hope Whi is already his #2

Fuck Dan Mullen. If he can defeat Mizo and Scar, we can avoid this situation!

Hey! Don't talk about our next coach like that!

How did I learn to stop worrying and fall in love with jets

There is still a lot of room for guessing here. I definitely don't think this is a deal for Florida

1) Real interest means he is interviewing or is their number one person? 2) He did not make it clear that he wanted a stable program. Florida may be one of the most unstable states in the SEC. Since Spurrier, only Meyer has done it for more than 3 years.

On the other hand: 1) I guess Florida can provide more than we can 2) SEC

I don't think Florida is unstable; I just think that the employees they hire have not yet succeeded. Florida does not have the systemic problems you see in FSU, Miami, etc. However, the pressure of VT is lower than that of UF, but the upper limit of UF is much higher than VT. It all depends on what you are looking for in the coach.

Edit: flip some schools

The pressure of FL is lower than the pressure of VT? ? Do not

"Give me a fucking beer", anonymous genius

In my opinion, UF is a bit unstable in my opinion because after their initial success, they fired their coaches after the third year among about 3 coaches in the past.

Their advertisements also cover up the scandal with the women's basketball team (I believe). I know that Gators desperately wants their ads to be fired.

Have you seen Auburn? Ha ha. The political submarine school is held every 2-4 years.

UF is unstable. There may be poor coach recruitment and substandard facilities, but I will not say that it is unstable. There are new facilities now.

"My advice to you... is to start drinking a lot." —John Brutaski

Maybe instability is the wrong word, but they fired McElwain and now Mullen because they both went through several very successful seasons and participated in the SEC Championship. Whether the rumbling around Mullen was painful, it was not entirely a sure expression. The US Securities and Exchange Commission believes that they will win the Eastern Conference every year. The competition is too fierce.

To be honest, UGA or UF should win 4 times in 5 years.

They hired unsuccessful employees. happen. This is a more results-oriented job, and the pressure is greater than this, but you will get paid for it, and you will also get talent for it.

"My advice to you... is to start drinking a lot." —John Brutaski

They hired unsuccessful employees. happen.

Never heard of this situation

You are the only ones I can talk about, you.

You get paid more at the SEC for a reason. Higher salary comes with higher expectations.

I just graduated from UF in May, and I can tell you everyone liked Mullen until he started losing. If he did not make a very stupid comment, I believe he will still be there, no matter what inexplicable loss occurs. He is the kind of coach you like. When you win, he makes a good voice, but when you lose, his voice sounds salty, and fans complain that he is angry with him. Mcelwain’s employment is just a bad one on his head

Another thing is how far does he see? If he wants to participate in Natty's campaign as soon as possible, he must pass through many schools to enter the FL playoffs, and the road to the championship is usually only through Clemson of the ACC. If he doesn't care much about this now, but wants to prove that he can succeed at the P5 level, as the head coach as a stepping stone to his ideal school, maybe it proves that certain things in FL are more worthy of his efforts. I still think that besides money, there are a lot of coaching decisions. Basically, unless they say it publicly, we don't know what their decision-making criteria are.

VT vs UF is an interesting thinking exercise. I think a good coach can win anywhere.

How did I learn to stop worrying and fall in love with jets

Under normal circumstances, Florida is a better job——

But it's not good enough if you win 10 twice and then participate in the SEC Championship...

Maybe it's just that he is not suitable..

Oh, wait McElwain won 10 games, 9 games, and won the SEC championship for two consecutive years...

I will coach there in two years just to buy out... bet it will be in the $20 million range

Yes, but he was caught by that shark...

Those McElwyn teams are only supported by the strong defense left by Mushan

The ceiling in Florida is much higher than VT.

"My advice to you... is to start drinking a lot." —John Brutaski

agree. But when you are thrown out before you cross the hall, how will you reach the top...

At some point, good coaches don’t want these championships or go bankrupt every year...

...I don't know if we have reached that time, it may depend on what the coach is looking for.

Elite coaches can gather talents, organize talents, and hire excellent coaches. Very, very little.

There is no reason for an elite job to choose a coach who cannot complete it. Mullen will never reach the level that uf can do, and needs to keep up. There is no reason to draw it. sec tv money makes things disappear magically.

"My advice to you... is to start drinking a lot." —John Brutaski

As long as you get a huge buyout, prepare for life, and still get another job equivalent to your other choices, why not take cash and let your name enter the big dog pool when the opportunity comes.

Sometimes we don’t have a special way of life, but our own

Not really, win the division, win the CCG, and you enter the playoffs. In Florida, do you sniff CCG most of your time in the SEC?

A job like UFIDA is to win the national championship.

Talent is very important. If appropriate, they can get such talents every year.

No matter who the coach is, VT can't get that talent every year. Now, VT's job is to win coastal areas, and see what happens when acccg has a bit of work. UF is definitely more competitive, but they have bigger fish to fry.

"My advice to you... is to start drinking a lot." —John Brutaski

Uh, I have to read through the comments before I do. Just said the same thing to the different comments above. Give you a leg, I drink.

Why? Because they are in the US Securities and Exchange Commission? Ask Clemson what their ceiling is.

How did I learn to stop worrying and fall in love with jets

Both my parents went to Georgia, and my dad is a big fan of UGA. He heard that UGA's offensive coordinator may be Florida's primary target. I hope so.

Mullen's annual salary at UF is $7.57 million. I don't know how much Whit is willing to pay, but there are many factors that will affect Napier IMO's decision. I have to imagine that UFIDA will provide more dollars, no matter how high we go. But the higher price tag also brings less patience for success while competing in one of the toughest sectors in CFB.

In VT, his base salary will not be so high, but if Whit writes in the ACCCG, NY6 Bowl, playoffs, etc. bonuses... In an easier way to participate in these games, will he be able to get a comparable sex?

We will know sooner or later

Finish them now; I'm going to touch my sweater.

I expect the news to start leaking as early as during/after the UVA competition, and I don’t think we will spend Monday without specific news.

If that coach doesn’t have a meeting CG and need to worry, we can hear a name. If they do have CG to play, we may hear some rumors that there is a person in line at VT, but we may not hear the name of IMO.

"I'm drunk and can't taste this chicken"-Colonel Sanders through Ricky Bobby

Oh yes, I think we might have to wait until CG forgets this.

Listening to the border corner, they proposed how Whit "released" Fuente's hiring during the UVA competition.

I have a sneaky feeling, and the same thing happened here. No later than Monday IMHO.

Are they sure that White did it?

Do this in Frank's last regular season-it doesn't sound like Whitt.

IIRC Whit and Fuente were very angry that it was leaked, don't think it came from Whit.

Hokies United l Ut Prosim

I have to imagine that UFIDA will provide more dollars, no matter how high we go.

This is the case for most of our primary targets (Napier) and other schools. We will have to find someone who wants to be in VT instead of UF, LSU, etc., otherwise we will have to enter the second floor. (Chadwell)

"I'm drunk and can't taste this chicken"-Colonel Sanders through Ricky Bobby

Don't get excited because of Napier. Fired by Dabo (well he was still young), the offense didn't fully ignite it. 2 games with a total offense of less than 300 and a few games with a total of less than 400. Not a super inspirational and energetic person-feels like Fu in this respect. no feelings.

Marcus Freeman or Huff all day.

"It's easy to grin when your ship comes in, and your stock market is defeated, but the person who is worth it is the one who can smile when his shorts are too tight on the seat."

I like Huff, and the only thing I want to know why Whit may not take that path is the lack of HC experience. Whit knew he had to complete this recruitment, he might think it was too risky

Finish them now; I'm going to touch my sweater.

I agree, but I would rather go to Dave Clausen or Mike Houston. Long-term head coach who knows how to build a culture. I would rather win the Beamer/Mike Young culture for a long time than sign a pair of Andrew Brown/Quinn Blanding blue chips and turn off.

It’s not that Huff or Freeman will do this, but it’s always risky for inexperienced young coaches.

So two people less than 1 year, if they have HC experience between them...

It’s night outside, but Lotte inside

HC experience is overrated imo

According to this logic, Georgia must be an idiot to hire Kirby Smart.

I agree with this to some extent. Compared with Fuente's last two offenses in Memphis, his offense has absolutely no bright spots.

I think if we also bring in some proven P5 recruiters and coordinators with him, I will be excited about this recruitment. In my opinion, bringing Napier's Louisiana staff to Blacksburg is not an upgrade to Fuente for me.

VT: 4-5 million per year. Beautiful mountains, good weather. Nice campus. Able to breathe in the countryside 5 minutes from the campus. Expectations: Run a clean program, beat UVA, participate in bowling, and win half the time along the coast and meetings every 3-4 years.

UF: 7-8 million per year. Flat land, not even close to the beach. Hotter than nose. Can't talk to campus, but living in the city is a big time for me. Expectations: Win more than 10 games a year, beat FSU, win the Eastern Conference every year, and maybe even beat Bama...

Those VT expectations are correct.

Hotter than nose. Can't talk to campus, but living in the city is a big time for me.

From the beginning of May to October, the hot weather in Gainesville, Florida is very muggy, with no sea breeze. Incredibly wet, Yuuuch! I didn't know that I would call Gainesville, Florida a rather large city. The population in 2020 is 141k. Decent size, but not very big.

The pain is temporary, and the glory of the chicken digging the scar is forever, let's go!

An additional $3 million to purchase a large number of air conditioners

They had to invent Gatorade for a reason

Winning ACC in VT is much easier than winning SEC in UF (not to mention that they might put Alabama and Auburn with UF and UGA in the East); I think the appropriate coach in VT will be 5-6 million Dollar.

Winning the ACC does not mean winning the national championship.

You can get the Florida roster ready, such as uga in 2-3 years. VT will never have such talents.

"My advice to you... is to start drinking a lot." —John Brutaski

Gainesville is not a big city, it is definitely just a typical university town and surrounding area, but yes, if you spend the summer there, you hope to sweat every time you go out

When I drive through that area, I try to make sure I have enough gasoline so that I don’t have to stop near the interstate at night.

They call this place a swamp for a reason.

A typical university town with more than 100,000 people? That is a city.

West of Gainesville is the Big Bend area of Florida, which is by far the most beautiful, best and most remote area in Florida. It's so fucking good-looking. Fishing is crazy. There are many rolling hills and horse farms in the south between Gainesville and Orlando.

You will see this game, this loss and this logo on ESPN Sportscenter. Virginia Tech 31 Miami 7

I support this. After moving here more than 6 years ago, I discovered that area in Florida. Absolutely beautiful and extremely remote.

I though Joe has determined that it is Huff? Why is it a new thread?

Posted this on another post, but this one seems to be hotter. ---I have always wanted to know how our current players align with the offensive/defensive style of each coach (Napier, Huff, Clausen and Chadwell). I know portals will also work, but it's interesting to hear French or Joe weigh whose plans will help us achieve the fastest turnover. Don't wait 2-3 years or years for their recruits to contribute.

I am more interested in a coach who can adjust his plans and concepts according to his own arrangements

Yes, adaptation must happen. Carfson has a record of 4 teams in this area, by the way.

"My advice to you... is to start drinking a lot." —John Brutaski

As others have posted, a great coach will be able to plan around the advantages of the players he has, while recruiting players who can best execute the plan he ultimately wants to execute. Hope we can get a great coach who can play our talents on the roster without really dropping for a year or two before we see some success.

Just when I thought I could no longer despise the Florida Gators.

I really enjoy their failure in one season. I should have known it would come back to haunt me.

I like Napier very much, but I also like some other candidates very much (especially Huff). Unfortunately, no one knows how high he ranks Whit. I'm sure there are some other names on the table that no one is talking about yet.

If Mullen’s peers commented on him so publicly, I don’t think I really want him to be taken into consideration by our HC.

This is the halftime audio leaked by Kirby Smart during the Florida game. This is the problem facing the next Florida coach.
